I've blogged in the past, but this is the first post to my blogger.com blog space. So far, without spending too much time here, it seems like a good system. I'll be putting it to the test over the next several weeks.
I am very interested in how it works as I am becoming more and more convinced that blog spaces for educational purposes are very powerful. The title of this space is Learning & Innovation and its overall focus will be on topics that connect the power of information technology tools with educational uses. I'll be posting thoughts on the topic on a regular basis ...
I am the Director of the IST Solutions Institute at Penn State University. In this role I direct all aspects of the Insititute ... we are really an applied R&D group that looks at creating eLearning tools to support education. We also spend a lot of time thinking about how we can use emerging technologies that students are interested in to change what goes in the classroom.
We'll see how all this goes! Looking forward to it.
Well, now that I've spent the better part of a semester using blogger, I've moved off it and onto WordPress. Blogger worked for the time being, but now that I have discovered the power of other open source tools, I am not going back to a hosted, commercial system ever again. This tool is just too easy to setup and I love how open it all is. I have put in new themes, hacks, plugins, and my own sense of style. I am hoping this is the last time I have to make a big move like I just did, but I think it'll be worth it!
