Hi Cole,

Thanks for the info. Once again, I learned about this recent post through your tweet - which illustrates the value of an app like Twitter. I posted a short blurb with links to the blogs you mention on my blog as well. I'm assisting with ADTED 531 (COURSE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT IN DISTANCE EDUCATION) this semester. Dr. Moore, Alicia Swaggerty, Linas Mockus and I recently redesigned the course to include the introduction of social networking technologies such as blogs, wikis, Skype, Second Life, podcasting, etc. So this Schreyer Honors blog project will be a very nice example of how blogs are being used that I can share with the folks who are taking the course.

I have some thoughts on the project and will circle back when I have more time but wanted to say thanks and wish everyone success with this!

Will ... thanks for the comment and good luck with the course. Please let me know if you need anything! we'll be reporting back throughout the semester!

Allan ... the use of FB as a portal of sorts to our blogs is very interesting. I had written about something like that some time ago and think it could make a real difference. The other thing that works well is the "publish to blog" feature in Google Docs.

It was funny -- during the first meeting with the scholars, someone (Brad I think) saw this post and told the rest of us about it. The idea of Erin making that post is to remind the scholars of some of the aspects of the program. They won't be answering those questions directly. They'll be using them as tools to think about their early college experiences.

Overall, they seemed to get what Chris Brady was saying about the mission of the Schreyer Honors College and the impact of blogging over the course of an entire college career. I'm excited to see what the students produce.

One thing - they got really interested when we were talking about tying blogs and Facebook together. I tried it tonight and it works well. Our Facebook network is enormous. It will definitely raise the visibility of their blogs.
